Well today's the day we go to San Francisco the very last leg of our road trip and the day we lose the car. So we need to make the most of it. Well Mariposa to San Francisco is 167 miles directly however if you choose to go back into Yosemite to visit the Tuolumne Giant Sequoia Grove it's 267 miles...so guess which way we are going lol. So breakfast first but no waffle today, need to watch those calories lol.
Then we are back on the winding road to Yosemite need to make the most of the $30 pass and we both want to see the Giant Sequoia trees. The main grove of these trees is called Mariposa where there are about 100, but that grove is closed for restoration till the middle of next year so we have to go north to Tuolumne Grove. This is a two mile round walk from the car park to see the twenty or so trees and the dead one. Donna sees a sign here that confirms that it is prohibited to take anything out of the park, she feels a bit guilty and half heartedly offers to take it from the bag in the boot and leave it but I think this would look a bit suspicious now so we leave it, just the airport security to get through now. Each one of these trees is supposed to be over 3000 years old. Whist walking down we managed to see 2 woodpeckers the second one was definitely Woody with a a shocking red plume on the top of his head. The first time we have seen woodpeckers literally pecking wood. The Sequoias are amazing so wide trunked and tall too. The two mile walk, uphill all the way back, was well worth it.
Onwards and upwards and we need to get a move on I have to get the car to San Francisco Airport by 5pm and my friend Garmin says we should get to our Hotel at 4.15pm. Its a shame we didn't have time to stop for pics as we drove some great mountain roads, saw some

Onwards and upwards and we need to get a move on I have to get the car to San Francisco Airport by 5pm and my friend Garmin says we should get to our Hotel at 4.15pm. Its a shame we didn't have time to stop for pics as we drove some great mountain roads, saw some
spectacular views and went through some lovely places Moccasin Point and Groveland are a couple that spring to mind. Continuing on to San Francisco, oddly no flowers in our hair, we arrive at Hotel Carlton at 4.20pm booked in, cases and bags to the room and I am back on the road to the airport while Donna settles in. Well out to the airport and say goodbye to the Nissan after 1109 miles good service. Then I have to make my way into the airport to grab a train back to San Francisco, interesting stuff but I did manage to get the right train and find my way back to our hotel first time and within 1 1/2 hours. Popped out to Papa Johns, it's pizza tonight, and a couple of beers in our room. An early start tomorrow to get our 72 hour bus tickets and our tickets to The Rock.....Alcatraz.
