Back in time...

Well only a short drive today. Only an hour and a half about 70 miles. Fresno to Mariposa to be precise. Here early parked up in our hotel carpark...Not sure what we expected really but I am sure it wasn't this. The main street of town is directly across the road from us and looks like something from a period drama not Cowboys and Indians exactly but more like when the railroad has just made it to town, the buildings date from the 1850s. That is historical for the states. We had a wander up and down the main street there are some very interesting shops a museum some hotels restaurants and bars. We find the town supermarket and then we have a couple of beers at Betts Gold Coin Sports Tavern one of the oldest buildings in

town.....the beer was actually reasonably priced at $3 each. Well then back to the hotel to check in we are around the back on the second floor and no lift! Never mind we back right on to the hills. The room is nice and we have a microwave too. A little later, after Donna has had a little lie down, afternoon drinks lol, we take a wander to the visitor centre to see what we can do tomorrow and if it's worth going into the National Park. The lady was very helpful and interested in what we have been doing. Well we can take a drive in to the park and a couple of short walks. Looks like we will have a busy day but we've got memories to make. We pop into the supermarket pick up some tomatoes, fried chicken, bread and corn dogs dinner sorted. Followed by a first for us, Pumpkin Pie, quite nice. Taste wise it's a mixture of gingerbread and caramel, texture wise it's a bit like a light fluffy cheesecake. Watching TV now a new series, Lethal Weapon, based on the film, looks good.
