8/9: Laid down in bed last night and was settling in (surfing the internet on my phone) and I hear Moo Moo (Kitty Moo Moo, my kitten/cat) come in and then she was running around crazy and "gettin into things," which was I guess abnormal for it being so late and knowing Weeze was in the bedroom with me (the cat and dog like to play "tag" sometimes and they can really stir up a racket!). As I'm getting up to see what's going on, I start to hear squeaking/squealing noises before I even get a chance to
get out there. I think to myself, "great, Moo Moo's not alone out there." By this time, the dog is really interested in getting out there to probably join in the chase. Thinking that would make the situation worse, especially since I'm thinking worse case scenario (rabid animal...nasty possum or skunk), I lock her in my room while I go investigate. I had to make a pit stop and grab my glasses first (I'm really almost blind without contacts!). She's got some furry brown thing (I can only see the butt end of the animal since it's hiding behind some stuff), the size of a large rat cornered. After seeing that, I kind of breathe a sigh of relief. I should be flipping out that I got, what I thought, was a large rat in my apartment, but with all the other things that were going on in my head of what it could have been, a rat was nothing! So I wanted to get a better look at the thing and I move the stuff that was hiding the front half of it......oh my! It's a baby bunny! Now what do I do? This thing is so darn cute, but Moo Moo was trying to bring me something home out of love. It's heartbreaking to have to take that away from her. So I start flipping out
cause I don't know what to do and if I don't act soon, she's definitely gonna kill it. So I go find something to catch it in.....I really don't want dead bunny in my apartment to clean up. So now I have a baby bunny in this Costco yogurt container. Now what? I can see it's bleeding. Where from, I don't know.
I really want to set it free outside. But if it's hurt, does ti even have a chance? Well, I don't want to touch the thing. Yeah, I know it's a cute little bunny, but who knows where that sucker's been. So I figure to get a better look at it, I gotta put it somewhere with more space. I get one of the empty Amazon boxes from the apartment that I was saving to put Goodwill stuff in and I put the bunny in there in the yogurt container. I'm thinking, he must need water and food, so I put some in there too. Don't ask my why I think a bunny in a "flight" status would stop to think he's thirsty or hungry, but hey, if it was me, I can pretty much eat anytime! I decide I need to get him somewhere "safe." Moo Moo doesn't realize I've taken him and she's still sniffing around the apartment looking for him. So I try to move the box, with the lid open to the spare room, which is off limits to Moo Moo. I'm moving the box and all of the sudden I feel wet stuff on me and I'm thinking that the bunny is peeing and I got bunny pee all over me......it's water! Dummy me forgot I had a whole thing of water in there for him and I was spilling it while moving the box! Now I'm on the phone with my bestie and telling him what's going on and the bunny starts moving and trying to get out, so now I'M squealing! Yeah, I know it's a cute harmless bunny, but it's moving and I'm afraid it's gonna get out and "touch" me with it's "dirty" "infected" self! Now I got my bestie's son on the car speaker phone (I didn't know I was on speaker) laughing at me freaking out and squealing from a baby bunny! (embarrassed!)
So I get the box in the spare room and I start to worry about the bunny chewing through the box and getting free into the room with all my stuff. So I go back in there and put the box in a plastic storage bin. I try to leave cracks in the top so he doesn't suffocate but also put a shoe box on top
hoping he won't wedge himself through the lid and get free. So I'm laying in bed well past midnight trying to sleep, but worried he's gonna get free. A few times I got up to check up on him since I heard this "noise" but it ended up just being the dryer in the kitchen. So suffice to say, last night was even worse than normal sleep!
And no, it's not a pickle in there with him; it's a snacking cucumber (baby cucumber)!
The funny thing about when you disable the car alarm when you have the "upgraded" version of the alarm with the under the seat shock sensor and you remove the seat so you have the alarm constantly going off whenever you arm the car because the senor is disconnected - is that when our car gets broken into, the car alarm doesn't go off. Funnier is when you're a cheap ass and don't pay the $126 to renew your renter's insurance policy when you move into your new apartment cause you could have never anticipated a year from then, that you've have that much stuff in your car because you're planning a cross country road trip and had developed the bad habit of leaving your purse in your car. Yes, I'm the dumb ass that disabled my car alarm thinking that no one would want to steal my 2005 Subaru Outback, who didn't have the foresight to renew my renter's insurance policy, who was the dumb ass to leave my purse in the car with lots of cash and jewelry. Yes...all of that is me and now that I've cancelled all my credit card, debit cards, lost all my cash and ID, wonder how I'm gonna board a plan in a few weeks to get my dog home before the road trip. Not to mention the tools that I had in my car to get me through the trip and all that cash....some I even just picked up yesterday at the bank and some I already kept in my car for "emergencies." Guess I won't be eating out or doing any shopping till I get my replacement cards in however many days. Wonder if I can still get my procedure done without any ID. Damn me for always putting things on my card when I had the cash in my purse. I guess whoever took my stuff already tried to use one of my debit cards 3 times this morning. I got the fraud call before I could even get to that bank to notify them of the loss. And still sitting here being pissed off at myself and upset at the unrecoverable financial loss, while waiting for the police to arrive since I can't leave the house till they get here.
It's even more unfortunate that since Weeze has been barking at something in the wee hours of the night from outside on my patio (that is where i basically park my car) for the last few nights in a row, I locked her up last night in my room so she couldn't bark. It's also unfortunate that just the night before, I made sure I brought my purse into the house. Hindsight....20/20.......ugh. Learned a lot though...just not sure it was worth the $1000ish lesson?
