Pre-Cross Country Road Trip - East to West - Preparation

8/17: 9 days and counting down
I packed about 95% of my clothing. The rest need to be laundered before packing. I was able to downsize my wardrobe by a little less than 33%. I's say that is pretty good. The goal for the bathroom is to get everything (linen's excluded) packed into one storage bin. So far I've got the bin 75% full. I have to figure out what I don't need. I posted my spare tv (32" LCD) and tv stand (Ikea Shelving) on Craiglist for $20, buyer take both, just to try to get rid of it fast. I'm supposed to be meeting someone down the street at a public spot to exchange. I added about 5 purses to the donation bin and a few more pairs of shoes. :) First round of downsizing is going well (second round will be when the stuff doesn't fit into the

POD!)

Finally settled on a personal coffee maker and blender that are supposed to be tumbler interchangeable (at least the coffee travel mug to blender). I tried the blender out today and seemed to work great for my green smoothie. I'll continue to test it out to ensure that it will make my nut milks okay. Tomorrow morning I'll take the coffee maker for a test drive! :)

I also was able to schedule my eye dr's appt. I tried to go back to my old doctor but he couldn't get me in until next week, so I just scheduled an appt at the Wal-Mart optometrist and am able to get in on Wednesday. :)

7:17pm I hate it that I have seller's remorse. I just got back from delivering/selling the tv and shelf combo. I put so much time into that tv stand. Trying to find something cheap and that matches my bedroom set (I ended up painting it black to match). That tv was a gift from my dad when I moved to Sacramento (short term 3-6 months). That tv made it back with me from Sac to San Diego to Sunnyvale to Newark, DE. The miles that, that tv has seen. :( And now it's gone just like that! Makes me question whether or not I did the right thing, but really, the deciding factor to sell was that tv's are so cheap now, that a 32" LCD now is higher quality and cheaper. That tv's got to be at least 7-10 years old? It's only a matter of time before it poops out and the transit back across to US; who knows if it'll even survive that?

Bye bye tv and shelf :(

Healthcare Googling: Apparently healthcare does not cost the same in all states. Of the states that I am looking to live, CA (even though I was not looking, was curious) and WA do not offer government subsidy. CA was the most expensive when I looked. DE was decent. The cheapest seemed to be in OR and UT. Texas and Montana seemed reasonably priced in comparison. Maybe I need to reconsider my options. CO was also on the higher side.....My gauge is with options (that included office visits under $50 per visit and included wellness exams) under $200/month were cheapest/decent.
