A Little Hike

Yesterday I woke up with a horrible sinus headache. I spent all day in bed. Brian and the kids decided to be lazy too. I think the kids watched 10 hours of French cartoons. I felt much better this morning so we decided to start the day with a little 4 mile hike since we had been so lazy yesterday. The kids weren't thrilled since we got lost the last time but they finally agreed to go. There may have been some threats or bribes. Penelope and I went down to the tourist shop to get a trail map to ensure we stayed on course.
We took the gondola up to the middle of the mountain and found the trail. Things were looking good. We saw some cows hanging out at a

lake and found a beautiful spot to stop and have a snack. There was some complaining about wanting to be at the pool instead of hiking but for the most part things were good. After the snack we headed down to what we thought was the last half of the trail. I'm honestly not sure what happened. We missed a sign or the trail wasn't marked or something. We ended up on a logging road in Switzerland. Reilly was freaking out that we were lost and had no more water. At one point he pulled me aside and said "So who do you think we'll eat first?"
Once we got to the end of the road we recognized where we were. This made us all felt better. All said we hiked over 10 miles. We made it back to our little village, had some crepes and went to the pool. The pool has this crazy slip-n-slide set up next to it. I didn't try it but it looked fun. Hopefully everyone will sleep well tonight. Tomorrow morning we are going to check out Chamonix.
