Lac d'Arvouin

We finally went on a hike and didn't get lost! We were told about a lake where you could go in the evening and see Alpine Ibex. It sounded like a great hike. I think the kids were excited for an evening hike. They were also excited for hiking snacks. Snacks are their favorite part of hiking.
We to the trail head and found Lac d'Arvouin trail. Thankfully it was well marked. We walked abut a quarter of the way and were stopped by a bunch of cows on the trail. As much as I've enjoyed seeing all the cows in Chatel, to be face to face with 20 of them was a little scary. The kids and I were ready to turn around to avoid any

unpleasant cow issues. Brian was braver and walked through them. We reluctantly followed and were not trampled by cows.
The rest of the hike was beautiful and uneventful. Right before we reached the lake we spotted 2 Alpine Ibex (Ibexes?) on the trail. We got about 5 feet away from them before a group of hikers with dogs came by and scared them off. We were happy to be able to continue on to see the lake. We saw a few more at the lake and even more on the hike back to the car.
Perhaps the best part about this hike was Penelope and Reilly actually enjoying it. There was no complaining. Well, no complaining about the hiking. There was some complaining about all the cow poop.
