Working with Pongo

Got up nice and early again to catch the 7am boat back to Sandakan. There wasn't much of a sunrise, but we walked along the beach before breakfast and it was beautiful and tranquil. There were loads of tracks in the sand where we could see the turtles had dragged themselves up the beach. The sign at the front of the cafe said 16 had come to shore, but there were more tracks than that, so I guess some are the return journey. It must be so exhausting for them!
Unfortunately we saw a dead baby turtle too – upside down with a hole in its shell – the fate of so many! When we arrived back in Sandakan it was only 8am and nothing was open much, so we went for a little wander and a drink before meeting the rest of the gang at the English teahouse for brunch/lunch. I had the fish and chips, and it was very nice, but I was super tired and looking forward to heading home. We did a quick grocery trip and upon arrival back at the resthouse, I headed over to visit the orangutans. On the feeding platform we were treated to two mother's and babies.
