Working with Pongo

Not too much to report today. James took some tourists on a night trek last night and they saw a slow loris! I hope we get to see one. It rained quite heavily last night, so the leeches were out and about a bit more. I ended up with two on my skin, one hand leech and one titty leech! They are quite slimy, but you just pluck them off and roll them in your palm to stun them so you can flick them away before they bite you and draw blood. Some are quite big and some are really small – they are the ones that concern me because they could get anywhere!! You walk past a bush sometimes and you can see them all waving in the air looking for the next victim!

After work we headed down to check out the menu at the Forest Edge resort. It is quite pretty, and we took our silly group photo for the day – something we've tried to get every trekking day. We had not long arrived and decided to head down to the pool to have a closer look. Suddenly we heard April and Steph scream from behind us, and they had both been bitten by a bee – April on the elbow and Steph on the ear! They immediately broke out in a sweat, and although we were all chuckling about it, apparently it was super painful, like a red hot poker. So we got some ice and cut the trip short so the guys could recover.
