Working with Pongo

This morning, the professional photographer came to take photos. We got some group shots together before we each got to choose an orangutan to have photos with. I chose Ospie. I really didn't like the whole process, it felt very posed and forced, and Ospie certainly didn't seem keen. I wish they would just walk around and take shots of us doing our jobs. I was one of the first to have photos, and then ranger BeDe needed some help with Excel, so it was nice to be able to use my office skills to assist. Then we went indoors and cleaned the cages, but there wasn't time to get everyone out today.

Sepilok, Borneo

This morning, the professional photographer came to take photos. We got some group shots together before we each got to choose an orangutan to have photos with. I chose Ospie. I really didn't like the whole process, it felt very posed and forced, and Ospie certainly didn't seem keen. I wish they would just walk around and take shots of us doing our jobs. I was one of the first to have photos, and then ranger BeDe needed some help with Excel, so it was nice to be able to use my office skills to assist. Then we went indoors and cleaned the cages, but there wasn't time to get everyone out today.

In the break I went to purchase a few items from Helen (from Orangutan Appeal UK) and to adopt Peanut. I also headed over to the Sun Bear Centre. Jeremy was there and escorted me up to the entrance. I got to see a few of the sun bears, but they weren't out and about much. Dr Wong was there talking to some of the visitors – he is just so passionate about the centre, it's really nice to see.

In the afternoon we were pretty much left to our own devices, although Elis was around keeping an eye on Ceria. I think we all did a great job today – with Koko, Ospie and Sepilok making repeated attempts to return, we managed to keep sending them back out, although perhaps that was more luck than anything.
