The Idea

Agde, South of France, 08.09.2014

I remember vividly the day I suggested moving to Goa. I wasn't really serious, it was a classic case of wishful thinking, I never thought for one second Mr Risk Averse would take me up on it.

It was during the summer of 2014. We were on a campsite just outside Agde in the South of France. I had just finished reading, Eat, Pray, Love (part of my inspiration) and I was full of warm memories of Goa, the climate, the beaches, the culture, so diverse and different. It was late afternoon, still

wonderfully hot, we were sat on the little veranda of our mobile home, chilled Rose in one hand, some delicious brie in the other, the girls were playing beautifully, Pete, mixing some cool tunes. I felt deliriously happy and didn't want it to end.
"This is sooooooo good", I said to Pete, "We are all so happy together as a family, if only we could do this long term".
"I know", Pete agreed.
"We could live in Goa!", I exclaimed, "You could give up work, we could rent the house out. I bet we could cover the mortgage AND and if we we're thrifty enough we could live quite comfortably. What d'you think?" I asked.
"Yeah, I could think about that. I'll do a spreadsheet", he said.
I could hardly believe it! Though I didn't get my hopes up, not then anyway. The maths were usually wrong for all my ideas!
