I suppose it would have been naive of me to imagine that we could have left home without at least one drama. Murphy's Law obliged and the car battery died just when we were about to set off and do those last minute errands so necessary before a holiday like this one.
One huge song and dance later Holler for a Marshal had us back on the road. Happily, no more problems before we left home to catch that midnight flight.
Smooth flight, smoothest landing ever but no sleep. Accumulated with very little sleep over the previous few days I arrived here barely being able to put one foot in front of the other. But that's when everything began to work perfectly for us. It seemed that 99% of the passengers on our flight were transferring to other flights and didn't have to go through immigration - no queue. Then only about 4 pieces of luggage on the carousel, two of which were ours. So again, no queue at Customs.
Next we found extremely hel
pful people once out of the arrivals hall who mothered us all the way to our luxury coach taking us to our hotel.
Only one other couple sharing the coach with us. So, had the best seat and consequently the best view of Hong Kong. Landscape shrouded in low cloud and early morning mist. Had that ethereal image that you see in those beautiful landscape painting of the Chinese mountains. The numerous suspension bridges spanning the bay looked like giant twinkling cobwebs. I thought I was entering fairyland.
Our hotel graciously allowed us to check in early, so we half-pie settled ourselves in and then went exploring. Managed to last until lunch time when had to give in to sleep deprivation and have an afternoon nap. A couple of hours later, feeling remarkably refreshed and fit we set off for another few hours of exploration. We seem to be in the midst of things here on Hong Kong Island, so not having the faintest idea of how to use the public transport system we are doing everything on foot. I am regarding that as permission to eat anything I like. Probably covered a greater distance in a single day that I would at home in a week (or even a month!!!)
Talk about sensory overload. I'm catching a few flies. Haven't even

Talk about sensory overload. I'm catching a few flies. Haven't even
thought to lift the camera (which is hanging on a lanyard around my neck) to take photo's. So nothing photographic to add to my journal this morning. Will have to do something about that today.
Have sent Johnny off for half an hour so that I can sit here in peace and do this. However, I told him that he could come back around 8.00 and we would go and find breakfast. I've got 5 minutes left.
