Caught a bus to Elephant and Castle this morning. Johnny wanted to go to a particular shoe shop to buy a particular pair of boots for his pending visit to St Petersburg.

They didn't have the boots he wanted on the shelves and neither did another shoe shop nearby. So that was a wasted exercise. Never mind. The Imperial War Museum was only another couple of bus

stops away and we had planned a visit there anyway.

This was turning into what I would call a "Boy's Day Out"!!!

The Imperial War Museum is in a really lovely setting and I was most impressed with the great big guns out front. They are off a ship or something. And just look at those big yellow bullets that are shot out of them. They can be shot to a distance of over 16 miles. I was very impressed with that.

Inside it was the Harrier Jump Jet that caught my eye. That's the one that goes up and down when it takes off. I think that's pretty cool too.

This painting reminded me of stories an old friend has told me of

going down the underground to shelter when London was being bombed. Quite poignant.

There are 4 or 5 floors of exhibits at the Imperial War Museum and I had seen everything that appealed to me in about the first half an hour. Had to sit around waiting for another hour or so before Johnny had had his fill. I even did both shops twice.

Decided time was of the essence when we emerged from the Museum so caught the tube to Covent Garden. Heaving with tourists. Londoner's must hate going out and about in their city, or perhaps they are just used to it. We jostled our way into the markets only to try and get out again as quickly as possible. Couldn't see a thing. Wandered around the corner to the Opera House which brought back memories of many a wonderful evening spent enjoying the ballet here with Anne and the glass of prized champagne Desmond North would

treat us to during the interval.

Not far from here to China Town so we wandered through the back streets along with a million other people. It was getting late in the afternoon so we decided we would have Chinese for dinner.

Not too far from here to our digs, so once again walked back to Oxford Street, picked up a thick shake and returned to our room for an early night.

All this walking should be having some sort of an impact on my waist-line but sadly, I can't see it. Might be that thick shake is the problem!!!
