Peru & Bolivia

This morning we caught the train for our journey to Cusco. There were musicians and a dancer on the platform as we boarded. It was a wonderful experience watching the countryside change as we slowly travelled along on the steam train. There was an observation carriage at the end where you could sit and watch the world go by. We went through Juliaca where the train was really close to the market stalls on both sides. People were having to stop and squeeze back to avoid it. The stalls were packed with all sorts of items - tools, shoes, clothes and phones among them. It was an amazing sight and you could have reached out and touched them.
Later on in the morning musicians were playing in the bar area along with traditional dancing and a fashion show of baby alpaca clothing. It was very entertaining as we were encouraged to join in by playing tambourines and maracas and to dance.
We had a wonderful three coarse meal with wine followed by coffee and petit fours. Then time to relax followed by a Pisco Sour making demonstration and more music and dancing. Just before the ten hour journey finished we were served afternoon tea.
When we got to Cusco we got a taxi to our hotel.
