Peru & Bolivia

After arriving at the airport in Lima we caught the bus to the Miraflores district where we are staying. We found our hotel and were able to check in early which meant we could have a shower before going out for a coffee and some food. We found a nice cafe and sat outside with a delicious foccacia sandwich and coffee. We then went for a walk to the park del Amor, which was quite busy, and watched the surfers out in the ocean from the cliff tops.
We went back to the hotel to pick up some bits and took a taxi to Barranco to meet our guide for a walking tour of the area. This is the Bohemian part of the city with street art, bright colourful buildings and home to many artists. Our walk took us to see some beautiful colonial mansions which are part of the history of the area from mock Tudor to Italian and French styles. Many of them are now boutique hotels, galleries and restaurants.
Paul, our guide, then took us to the area where there is extensive street art. It is very colourful and some of it done by their well known artists. We walked through the parks to the Bridge of Sighs and up to the Municipal Park and a local market. We caught a bus back to Miraflores, called for a drink and arrived back at the hotel ready for an early night after all the travelling.
