What a magical day!

Today we toured the Douro Valley.

The UNESCO listed Douro Valley is located in the north of Portugal, just one and a half hours from our accommodation. The Douro Valley is a large historic and cultural region of Portugal, long devoted to vineyards and the production of some of the world’s best wine.

Our tour guide picked us up at 08:30 am. By 10:00 am we were

tasting wine, olives, olive oil, bread, olive paste and jams at Quinta Fonte do Milho. Of course, we bought 3 bottles of wine, olive oil and the olive paste to bring back home with us.

Lookout points (“miradouros”) are plentiful in the Douro Valley with Miradouro São Leonardo de Galafura being a must-see for any traveller. Situated between Régua and Pinhão. With a view that will leave you breathless!

From there we made our way to Pinhao. Our tour guide had organised a river cruise for us. The river cruise duration was 1 hour. The views were just magical. From Pinhao we drove to Regua, where we stopped for lunch.

On the way back home, we stopped by a Praia Fluvial (man-made beach).
