After lunch we made our way to Santa Luzia's Temple Monument. To reach the top of the hill, we climbed into the Santa Luzia's elevator. Santa Luzia's elevator was inaugurated in June 2, 1923. Overcoming a gap of 160 meters, in six to seven minutes, the trip in the Santa Luzia Elevator is the longest of all the funiculars in the country, with its 650 meters in length.
More than 3 centuries ago, there was a small chapel dedicated to Santa Luzia at the top of the mountain. At the end of the XIX century, a granite temple-monument was constructed by the local stone masons. From the top of its dome, the most dazzling view of Viana can be enjoyed.
