Jet lag! Woke up at 03.30am and was wide awake for a couple of hours, until I eventually fell back to sleep. After breakfast we started making our journey to Vila De Conde. Which will be our base till the 10th of August. We had a long journey ahead as we had to drive 344 kms. Our pitstop along the way was at Santarem for lunch. They say the world is a small place, at the same pitstop was my cousin, Vanda, who I hadn't seen for many many years. They were also making their way up north for their summer holiday.

We arrived at 15.45pm to check in to our Airbnb. Our apartment is located on the esplanade right on the beachfront. Mind you, it was foggy when we arrived and couldn't see much of the water. After dragging our luggage's up 3 levels of stairs, we went on the hunt for the nearest supermarket. I've never been so excited walking the aisles of the Pingo Doce supermarket, reminiscing on our local food products.

Our day ended with Rui and I meeting up with a few of Rui's family members.
