Our Adventures in Portugal, Spain, France & Italy

Our travels today took us to PISA.

We all slept in today. All this sightseeing is tiring us out. We were out the door at roughly 11am this morning. It's still an hour's drive from where we are staying to Pisa. We were able to find a car park quiet easily, just opposite the Leaning Tower.

I had to google why the Leaning Tower of Pisa is leaning....The tower began to lean during construction in the 12th century, due to soft ground which could not properly support the structures weight. It worsened through the completion of construction in the 14th

It worsened through the completion of construction in the 14th

century. Just imagine, from poor construction, to now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The tower is one of three structures in the Pisa's Cathedral Square, which includes the Cathedral and the Pisa Baptistry.

We stopped for lunch and for gelato. Then kept walking the inner streets, reached the Piazza dei Cavalieri (the first Grand Duke of Tuscany residence), what a grand palace!

Once we were ready to move along, we made our way back to our Airbnb, we had to pack our bags again, as tomorrow we reach our final destination, Rome.
