Gavmerica

This morning I got all my laundry done which probably getting to the point where it was a bit overdue. It was good to have a bit of a tidy up after a week on the road traveling.

Once that was all done I went for a walk along the waterfront starting at Pier 14 which has a good view of the bay bridge. Eventually I found myself heading in the direction of Coit Tower. I ended up climbing a large number of flights of stairs just to get to the bottom of the tower, and was pretty spent by getting to that point. Luckily inside

Day 17 - San Francisco

June 03, 2013

San Francisco, California, United States

This morning I got all my laundry done which probably getting to the point where it was a bit overdue. It was good to have a bit of a tidy up after a week on the road traveling.

Once that was all done I went for a walk along the waterfront starting at Pier 14 which has a good view of the bay bridge. Eventually I found myself heading in the direction of Coit Tower. I ended up climbing a large number of flights of stairs just to get to the bottom of the tower, and was pretty spent by getting to that point. Luckily inside

there is a lift. The lift operator told us that once at the top we would be at the highest point in San Francisco. Once I got to the top I took a photo from a few of the windows and then went back down. Other than look at the view there was nothing much to do up there so I was up and down pretty quick.

After walking back down the initial climb of stairs I headed in the direction of Chinatown. I believe it was the Main Street of Chinatown that I walked down and it did definitely feel like I had left America.

I sat down and had a quick bite to eat in Union Square. I had a look on maps and found where the painted ladies (narrow houses from Full House) were. The map showed they were only around 3km away so I decided I could manage that. My walk took me past City Hall and alot of randoms along the way (who would have thought the 'Full House' house would be past and somewhat in a dodgy area. The walk felt quite long so I decided I would try my luck at bussing back to the apartment. I got off at Union Square and managed to work my way back to the apartment (it helps having a building that is tall in the skyline).

For tea we went along to the Mission District and had burritos for tea

and then on the way back we stopped to have some of the creamiest most natural ice cream which is made by a machine using liquid nitrogen. It was pretty smooth in comparison to normal ice cream.

Check in tomorrow.
