I read somewhere that only 71% of the island of Oahu can be seen by land. So I decided to finish this trip with a bang and do a helicopter tour of the island. It also helped that the Grand Canyon helicopter tour had been amazing.

The helicopter was amazing, a great way to see the expanse of the island and all the greenery that is on the island. There isn't much else that can actually be said about it because it is all about the views.

Honolulu, Hawaii, United States

I read somewhere that only 71% of the island of Oahu can be seen by land. So I decided to finish this trip with a bang and do a helicopter tour of the island. It also helped that the Grand Canyon helicopter tour had been amazing.

The helicopter was amazing, a great way to see the expanse of the island and all the greenery that is on the island. There isn't much else that can actually be said about it because it is all about the views.

After getting a coffee I went to Waikiki Beach for the first time during my four days here, it is a very nice beach. I had about 6 hours to fill

in so I decided to go for a walk along the beach. Along the way I saw a booth selling tickets for a submarine tour and decided that would fill in some time. So I did that and saw some sunken boat wrecks, lots if fish and a couple of big turtles. So I have now seen Hawaii by air; by land and underwater.

For lunch I went for what is apparently the local meal which is loco moco. It is rice with two meat patties and two eggs on top coated in gravy. The place I was eating also had Hawaii Five-O themed cocktails and I felt obliged so I tried a Danno Banano which is made of gold rum, gold coffee liquor, blended with banana, pineapple and coconut topped with gold coffee liquor.

I took a stroll in the other direction along the beach and then made my way back to the hotel and sit here waiting until the shuttle is here to take me to the airport. It is that awkward point where there is too

much time to just sit and wait but not enough to actually do anything.

So I find myself sitting here and I guess it is that point in the trip where it is time to reflect on the last 41 days. Over the course of my trip I have achieved many things and seen and done lots of things. This has been my first major trip away without friends or family and I have found it good. During the time I have made new friends from across the world and have also caught up with old friends who have left New Zealand. I have done new things I have never done before and also done things which I haven't done in a while. I have covered many different cities and achieved what I wanted to achieved in all of them. I have completed what I wanted to see in America (except perhaps Niagara Falls and Mount Rushmore and perhaps Florida. That sounds enough for another trip). I guess now having made the big step and done this trip by myself I can see myself perhaps doing similar trips in the future maybe not quite as long though. I look forward to getting home but there is also a small bit of sadness that my adventure is over. Anyway that's enough reflection, no more checking in until the next trip.
