This morning we made our way to Union Station in Washington DC and boarded the Amtrak through to New York City. union Station was pretty big and rather impressive. Unfortunately our train departed an hour late, but no huge deal. I'm glad we took the train instead of flying as it made a change and I got to see a little bit of scenery. Although not much because I had an aisle seat and chose seats that were by a gap in the windows. I enjoyed the train as a form of transport though.

Once we arrived in New York we grabbed a yellow taxi and made our way to the apartment we are staying at. Once set-up we went for a walk and visited Grand Central Station. It was very busy and it is an impressive building. It looks like it is currently celebrating 100 years.

From there we walked back to our apartment with a stop at the Rockefeller Centre where we had a quick look around. We will be going back there another day though.

New York, New York, United States

After the Rockefeller Centre we grabbed a New York slice which was pretty good (although my crust was a little burnt).

Once we got to the apartment we planned some of what we wanted to get done this week and also booked tickets to Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre. It was awesome getting to go to a Broadway show on my first night in New York. Having seen the movie it was nice to know a lot of the songs and know the story. I was a bit disappointed that there was no big impressive sets but maybe that was just because of what the show needed. I still thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to going to a few more shows over the week.

After the show we went for a walk through Times Square (with the tune of 'All That Jazz' in my head the while time) and it is big and bright! I have to say it is probably brighter than Vegas due to it all being in one tight spot whereas Vegas is spread along the whole strip. It was extremely busy but it will be interesting to see it again during the day.

Anyway check in again tomorrow.
