This was the first morning where I didn't have to be up and away first thing so I was able to have an overdue sleep-in. The only thing I actually planned for the day was a trip to see Iron Man 3 at the El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.
Once I was ready I headed up to Hollywood Boulevard I was early so I went and got something planned for tomorrow and had a look in the sweet store which they dub as the greatest sweet store on earth.
I headed to the theatre which happens to be one of the theaters where they hold a number of different world premieres. In fact Iron Man 2 & 3 both held their world premieres in the exact theatre I was sitting in watching it (there is only one big screen so yes I am correct). The theatre was originally built to hold live plays and it did for a number of years until it held its first world premiere which was Citizen Kane.
I enjoyed the movie and made sure to stay until the very end of the credits as the Marvel Movies normally have scenes at the end. Downstairs the theatre had a display of a number

Downstairs the theatre had a display of a number
of figurines from Stan Lee's personal collection.
Once I had finished looking around the theatre I went outside and there appeared to be a large queue outside, I was standing there having a look and someone asked me if I was in queue. I said no and asked what it was for, the guy explained that it was the ticket holders for a live taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live. He also explained that you can wait on standby if not enough ticket holders show up. At that stage there were only four other people on standby so I joint the queue. Maybe 20mins later they came and moved us from the standby queue to the end of the general admission queue and gave us wristbands to get in. As we were walking into the studio I noticed there were people still standing in the standby queue (they should have got there earlier).
Even though we don't get the show here it was very cool to watch the taping. I was in the front row right beside the band. Before Jimmy comes out they have a warm-up guy to get the crowd amped up. He was asking where people were from and I told him I was New Zealand which got a big round of applause from the crowd (bigger than the people from Australia).
The guests for the episode were Alyssa Milano (Charmed, Melrose Place, Who's the Boss), Chris 'Ludacris' Brides (Rapper/Actor - 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast 5, Fast 6) and musical guest Darius Rucker (gained fame with Hootie & the
Blowfish). The taping flew past, Jimmy Kimmel even filmed an advert for An Oral-B electric toothbrush. It was funny when he was filming the ad for tonight's show he said his lines and then they filmed him saying about ten different "thanks ......." Quickfire for all the different people on the different networks that would be crossing to him.
After the interviews were over we were taking outside where there was a big stage set-up outback and this is where Darius performed three or four songs.
It turned out to be a pretty cool day considering I got up thinking I was simply going to a movie. It turns out I was in the right place at the right time. Anyway I've got a full day tomorrow so check in later!
