Today was our final day in Washington DC so we were out to make sure we got around everything that we still wanted to see. We took the metro across to Arlington where we walked across to Theodore Roosevelt Island where there is a memorial for him. It was worth the effort of getting there as it was a pretty cool memorial with a few different quotes which were quite cool.

From there we grabbed some bikes and made our way to the Us Marine Corps Memorial. This is the statue of some soldiers raising an American flag. This statue was the base for the movie 'Flags of our Fathers'. It was an amazing statue which was a lot bigger than I had realized. I'm glad we made it across to this memorial.

We biked back to Washington DC across the Arlington Memorial Bridge which was quite a nice bridge. At the end of the bridge was

the Lincoln Memorial which was the drawcard for me coming to Washington. I have to say that I actually preferred the Jefferson monument yesterday though. It was still an amazing structure and a huge statue.

In front of the memorial is the reflecting pool which we walked alongside and went through the World War II Memorial again and had a better look that yesterday.

We then grabbed some lunch and made our way to the Museum of American History. They had a few different exhibits but the highlights were the original Kermit the frog puppet and Dorothy's ruby slippers

from the Wizard of Oz.

After that we walked around for a while but had a quiet rest of the afternoon/evening. Got back to the hotel early as it will be another early morning tomorrow so we can head to train station tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow I will be checking in from my second to last stop: New York City!
