Trip of a Lifetime - Alaska, here we come!
This was our last day of the trip, and I knew we would be spending a good chunk of it on interstates (I75/I69 and the 402), so as we headed out, I wanted to start off on some less-travelled, less busy roads to get us part of the way south, so once we crossed the Mackinac Bridge – and yet again, the paved lane was under construction, so we had to use the grated lane! – we picked up M31 heading south.

Day 35 – St Ignace, MI to St Thomas, ON

This was our last day of the trip, and I knew we would be spending a good chunk of it on interstates (I75/I69 and the 402), so as we headed out, I wanted to start off on some less-travelled, less busy roads to get us part of the way south, so once we crossed the Mackinac Bridge – and yet again, the paved lane was under construction, so we had to use the grated lane! – we picked up M31 heading south.

Grill in Pellston, then caught M68 and the Straits Hiway to Wolverine and then continued on, parallel to I75 on Old 27 Highway into Gaylord and the first HD stop of the day at Zips 45th Parallel.
We continued back-roading it (Old 27, 72, 144, Old CR502) into the second Harley shop, Gildner’s in West Branch, and then stayed on 76 and picked up M13 until just north of Bay City. From there, we jumped onto I75 for HD stops in Birch Run (Shiawassee HD) and Flint (Vehicle City HD) before picking up I69 into Port Huron.
After a fairly smooth border crossing – the traffic jam to pay the toll was the biggest headache, clearing customs was a breeze, we made
the requisite Timmie’s stop in Sarnia before heading home.
For the day, we logged a total of 648 kms, which brought the total distance traveled on the trip of 18,458 km
