Trip of a Lifetime - Alaska, here we come!

Today, we reached a couple of firsts for the trip – we had the longest day on the trip, in terms of mileage covered, and we also had the hottest day on the trip so far.

Day 30 - Drumheller, AB to Regina, SK

July 13, 2019

Today, we reached a couple of firsts for the trip – we had the longest day on the trip, in terms of mileage covered, and we also had the hottest day on the trip so far.

After grabbing a coffee/breakfast at the Timmie’s in Drumheller, we headed out towards AB56 and eventually onto the TransCanada Highway (Hwy 1). The scenery and the ride along AB56 was quite nice with lots of colour from the different crop fields – canola, mustard and barley – to keep us all amused. After a brief rest stop in

Trochu, we caught the much busier Trans-Canada for the rest of the day.

We made stops at a Timmie’s in Brooks as well as in Moose Jaw and then made the mandatory poker chip stop at the Harley Davidson dealer just outside of Medicine Hat – quite a large dealership – and then for fuel and some lunch at Humpty’s in Swift Current. We rode past enormous cattle pastures, a huge salt mine in Chaplin, a very large potash plant just outside of Regina and gently rolling (maybe I’m being a tad geneorous) countryside into our destination for the night, the Country Inn and Suites in Regina. Before reaching our destination, we did make a stop at Prairie HD in Regina.

Brian Fries came out to meet us for dinner and a drink at the Creekside Pub & Brewery just behind our hotel, and it was good to

finally catch up with him after a number of years of being internet buddies via the various VentureRiders and Harley groups.

For the day, we logged a total of 741 kms, including a trip back into town for dinner, for a total to date on the trip of 15,122 km
