We kicked off the 5th and last week of our trip with a more relaxed, sightseeing type of day, so after having a continental breakfast at the motel in Red Deer, we headed south on AB2 to the junction with AB42 and then took the backroads into Drumheller.
The countryside in this part of the world offers varying landscapes, from lush farmland to barren rocks – which form part of the Canadian Badlands.
We took a neat little cable ferry (the Bleriot Ferry) across the Red Deer River and then rode along Horsethief Canyon before coming to the Royal Tyrrell Museum. Although we decided not to go inside the museum, we did take a 1 km tour of their Interpretive Trail.
After making a stop at the Timmie’s in Drumheller, we then headed out to go see Horseshoe Canyon and then back down AB10 to go see the HooDoos. On the return trip

On the return trip
back to Drumheller, we stopped off to see the Rosedale Suspension Bridge and the remnants of one of the many mines that were present at one time.
For lunch, we rode on AB10X, over 9 of the 11 bridges that take you all the way to the hamlet of 11 Bridges, to the ghost town of Wayne, AB and the Last Chance Salloon for lunch.
We then made our way back into Drumheller and stopped off to see the World’s Largest Dinosaur statue, before checking into our motel for the night, The Badlands Motel. We rode back into town to meet up with our nephew Dustin and CarolAnn and Xander at Vintage Taphouse & Grill.
For the day, we logged a total of 269 kms, including a trip back into town for dinner, for a total to date on the trip of 14,381 km
