We caught the bus to Vilinius which took a few hours. The walk from the bus stop to our accommodation was reminiscent of the Riga walk, however once we got to our accommodation we could see that it was a bit better. That night we went for a walk and the main streets were beautiful. It was very cold and it got dark very early once again. Christmas decorations were starting to be put up which was really nice and there were lots of people around.
This was a really artsy place with random art work up in the street and a whole area dedicated to up and coming artists and it was very cool to explore all of this. There was also a tower on a hill which we could go up – there was a museum inside, and outside had great views of the town. We walked around a lot and looked at many different buildings. We went to a Holocaust museum in an area that we thought we were lost in! We had no idea they had so much involvement in WWII. Down the road was a KGB museum and again, was so interesting and learnt a lot that we don’t learn in NZ. After these two museums we were done with all the reading of exhibitions!
We had some nice food in these places and were very impressed with how good people’s English was.
