We crossed the border to Chiang Rai along with our $1 bribe. We went to our average accommodation where we had to pay for air con! That night we went to a bar “shot shot shot!” and did karaoke and there were pictures of G Adventures tour guides all around the walls. We did our own one for Sony and the Vitamin Gs (the group of us who had the fruit clothing bought in Vietnam). The lock on my bag also broke so Sony and I cut it off with garden secateurs.
The next day we went to the White Temple in Chiang Rai. This was AMAZING! It was a modern temple designed by an artist which depicted hell outside of the temple, and heaven inside. Some of the notable features included paintings of Star Wars, Harry Potter and Transformers inside the temple. It was very interesting! We then travelled to Chiang Mai where we visited lots of markets. Some people went to see the elephants but we decided to stay by the pool, do the markets and got massages. It was a busy place with heaps to do but we didn’t have enough time.
The next night we were on an overnight train to Bangkok.
