We left the house at 8:37 am, pretty much on schedule. We had been driving on our way to the motor home, only about 5 minutes, when we realized we had forgotten to turn off the air conditioning at the house. Rather than back track right away, we decided to modify our plans by delaying hooking up the car to the motor home.
Hooking up the car went fairly well. This was the first time using our new Blue Ox tow bar. The nice thing about this one is that it remains attached when not in use. That is nice for Jay. The old tow bar had to be removed every time we took off the car. That meant every time we had to back the RV into a site at an RV park, the tow bar had to be removed from the RV and stored in a bin. The tow bar is very heavy!
What didn’t go so well was the new switch we had installed in my car. The switch was supposed to prevent a dead battery in the car, a problem we had experienced in the past.

Hooking up the car went fairly well. This was the first time using our new Blue Ox tow bar. The nice thing about this one is that it remains attached when not in use. That is nice for Jay. What didn’t go so well was the new switch we had installed in my car. The switch was supposed to prevent a dead battery in the car, a problem we had experienced in the past.
When we used the switch, all power from the battery to the
car was turned off. To make a long story short, after a phone call, we learned that the company that installed the switch forgot to install an important component, so we won’t be able to use the switch on this trip. Hope that doesn’t turn out to be a problem.
After driving about 250 miles, at 5:15 we arrived at West Branch State Park, in Ravenna, Ohio. We had stayed in this park once before, when we traveled to Isle Royale and Voyagers National Parks. The park is located around a large lake. We had a lovely site. Our site, #105, like most in the park had good privacy and nice tall shade trees. The weather was gorgeous. We got settled quickly and took Sandy and Pilgrim for a short walk. We had quiche (made the day before), salad and watermelon for dinner. Afterwards I took Sandy for a longer walk around the campground. All in all, a good start to the trip.
