Day eight of driving. We put the day before behind us and moved forward. Our goal was to be home that night. It didn’t matter how long it was going to take us, I was determined to drive the final 900 kilometres that day. I don’t remember much about this day. I know I got a surge of energy that kept me going and didn’t stop the car unless we had to. We actually drove on some new ground when we passed the road that went south to Manitoulin Island and continued on the Transcanada through Sudbury. Passed Sudbury, and we were on the home stretch!
We made pretty good time! We arrived in Markham sometime around 8:00 pm that night. We were home, in Marc’s arms safe and sound! Nothing could have made us happier than we were that night, snuggled on the couch, in our pajamas, with daddy's arms wrapped around us.

This trip was a dream come true. Before we even had kids, I knew I wanted to someday drive out west with my family. Granted, the original plan was always to do this with Marc... We wished he could have been with us the whole time, but we knew he had commitments at work that meant that it was just not possible for him to be gone that long. He knew that if we waited for him to have the time to go on a trip like this it might never happen, so he encouraged us to go without him. So that's what we did, just me and the girls, and what a great adventure we had.
While writing this travel diary, I tried to capture as many memories as I could, but I know there are some missing. I hope reading this diary triggers more memories for the girls and I. Perhaps we can add them in on some of the blank spaces that are left on a few pages...
Did we accomplish what we set out to do on that cloudy, drizzly day in Markham, at the start of our adventure, back in June?? Absolutely! We completed the journey to the Pacific Coast and back home safely! It was a trip filled with fun times, new challenges, complete joy, indescribable frustration, huge growth, reflective peace, endless love, fulfilling laughter, buckets of tears, and so much more...
