Our Great Canadian Road Trip Adventure - Summer 2017

We stayed in a Comfort Inn near West Edmonton Mall. We knew we had to spend part of day three of our travels home exploring the largest mall in Canada. I found a doggie daycare nearby that catered to travelling puppies, like Chip, who were generous enough to allow their families to leave them for a day to enjoy the West Ed Mall. I can honestly say that I don’t think he minded spending a day with his canine folk while we played at the mall.

Not knowing what to expect at the West Ed Mall, we decided to play the day by ear and see what we felt like doing once we got there – would it be the indoor water slides, the skating rink, or the amusement park?? Well the skating rink was closed for construction, and the water slides looked super busy, so off to Galaxyland we went.

I thought that roller coasters and driving hundreds of kilometres probably wouldn’t mix well, so I sat this one out and enjoyed the park through the girls’ experiences. With very short lineups, the girls went from roller coaster to roller coaster non-stop for a couple hours. Just watching them made me dizzy! I was very pleased to see them enjoying themselves so much.

We had to pick-up Chip before the doggie daycare closed and wanted to get some driving in that day, so we left the mall mid-afternoon, after a filling lunch at the Spaghetti Factory, of course! We made it that night to the Saskatchewan border town of Lloydminster – half the town was in Alberta and half in Saskatchewan. The perfect ending to this adventurous day was finding a room in a hotel with a swimming pool! The girls had a relaxing swim while Chip and I shared the peace and quiet in the room – well as quiet as it can be with a dog that barked at every person going down the hall! Oh well, I took the moments I could get.
