It was only a couple days before Sadie (15 yrs), Brie (12 yrs), Lily (11 yrs), Chip (4 yrs, or 28 dog yrs), and I (44 yrs, LOL!) began our adventure... Our Great Canadian Road Trip! The packing was in full swing. Thank goodness for lists! The girls had really gotten into the trip. One of the biggest indications was seeing them get their own stuff together. I was so very proud of how organized they were.
Only a couple of missteps so far... It rained so much the last week in June that the tent (set up in the backyard to be waterproofed) had to be set up inside to dry out! Then, once it was dried and treated, I
realized it was too small to fit our air mattresses! Off to Walmart we went to get a bigger tent. No time to spray it, so fingers crossed that it would keep us dry. The big question was: would it all fit in the Flex?
Another big question was: "Why were we doing this?" - I mean driving to BC, just the girls, only one driver? It was kind of nuts, according to most people. Not for us though. This was an adventure! It was not the first time that I had driven from Ontario to BC, and the trip was planned so I would only drive about five to six hours a day. This was a trip I always wanted to do with my kids, and my theory was you couldn’t travel anywhere else in the world until you had seen your own country. Also, it was Canada's 150th birthday! What better way to celebrate than to see all its beauty first hand. The fact that Parks Canada was giving free park passes this year was basically what started this crazy idea. Nothing left to do but hang the Canada Park Pass on our rear view mirror and start the journey...
