Got up fairly early, this is the day the boys were really excited about. We hired 4 mopeds for the day. The roads are much quieter here than the mainland!! They were little automatic bikes but quite punchy. Basically they cost £4 a day including the fuel, its ridiculous. We drove off to find somewhre for breakfast. We stopped at Horas shugary. I had a chees and avocado toasted sandwich and then we st off on our road trip. We probably did about 100 km. The roads only got busy at one point before the hot springs. It was great just driving around the island, with beautiful views of the lake ay different aspects. We passes some sort of meetings,a wedding and ended up at the hot springs, which you could smell before you see. The place was really run down andnowhere you fancy entering the water and lots of rubbish. I think at some point they had put quite alotof effort into the place butwith lack of visitors over the last 10 years it had been left to go to ruin.
We also stopped at thestone chairs of the kingswhere apparently they had conferecnces and then there was the beheading stone. There were some pushy tourist souvenir sellers here. Dominic of course had tobuy something, a local type shirt thats almost too small for him noe. I fely guilty and probably paid a fortune fot a wooden spoon. Finlay and marcus got out of there as soon as possible. We had a lovely day looking at all the local toba batik houses and all the countryside and views of the lake. Got back to GH about 4pm. The weather was still lovely ad we all went swimming in the lake. We hired an inner tube and then the boys went off for about an hour on the bikes. We were a bit nervous letting them do this but they seemed to ride them quite responsibly. I sat in the garen and talkec to a dutch couple who had been to the next 2 places we are going to already and unbelievably stayined in the same places we had booked. They came with high recommendations so that was good news when you are booking something from 10,000 miles away!
We walked to the otherend of tuk tuk to eat at HorasShugary again as apparently across the raod they had live bands on a tuesday, we waited til about 9pm but it was still shut so obviohsly no band today. The walk back was lovely and all along the road indonesiand were singing or playing music in
