22nd July
Neither Marcus or I slept well as we had really hard spring beds which dug in and we coldnt get the emperature right as the aircon wasn working great so we put the fan on too and the whole room felt like it ws going to tke off. It was a bit of rush in the morning to get going as we wanted to get to Escape high ropes park before it got too hot, we managed to grab some banana roto/pancakes by the bus stop which had nuts un too and Raoid Penang bus 101 turned up in due course. It was nearly an hours ride to Escape, but once we had got out of George town it was a lovely ride along the coast, seeing all the beaches. We got to Escape abot 9;30 I think, none of us have wtches or phones so we are neve sure of the time.. The park opertes on an cashless electronic system with wrist band, it was a great idea. The park was in a incredible setting in the jungle nd really well planned out. We had a brlliant day, physically challenging and dmanding. Firstly we went up these tubby racers, where we haaad to crry a rubber ring thing up a hill, which ws tiring in itself and then you sat in it and went down very fast, I spun bckwrds Afterwards we went on the main high ope thing. There were 3 heights and each height had 3 courses, easy medium and hard. There was lots of balancing, and climbing and holding on . After some hard bits you usually got a zip wire treat, but you had to grab the rope net at then end and hold on for ear life or you were going to go back!. We did the first the first height and then most of the second heigh and then hd to have a break as we were exhausted , soaking with sweat, it was very hot and we downed over a litre of water. Back to the third height and we strted on the medium. It was very demandindig, but I did it but that ws enough for me. I am glad I didnt do the hard one as the boys said it was really tough and both caame back with war wounds. It was such fun. We then hd some lunch, combo meal of burger, chips and coke. There was about 5 chips!. We spent another few hours in the park, tarzan swinging, attempting to climb a coconut tree etc
We left the park about 4pm i think and got the bus to the beach. We had taken our costumes but no towel so it was really hard to find somewhere to change especially with all the moslems around, This drunk indian guy followed us for a bit. We also saw a snake on the beach, not sure which type. Walking over the rocks to fid a swimming spot some of the stuff fell out of my bag including my bra and Dominics new ht which he is not best pleased with me about, as we only discovered this when we got back.
Swimming in the sea was heaven, warm but refreshing. We had to watch our bags all the time because there were loads of monkeys around. We tayed at the beach for about an hour and then boarded the very full bus back to George town
We quickly showered and then out to eat. We tried the Teksum restauarant that Kent had recommended. Tere was queue when we got ther but it didnt take long and we were presented with this menu with lots of wonderful creations on. Marcus had seet and sour chicken nd loved it. I had choy sum with shrimps and garlic and dominic had deepfried chicken with a thai suce. It was all delicious. We trundled back the GH after that as were all knackered but very content
