I have decided to write this sectionof our holiday in oneblock as a lot of the dats were very similar and not so much to write about.and i am writing this after.
The alarm went off early again as the taxi was cominig at 7.15 who also drove like a maniac the hour to kuala besut where we were catching a boat to the beautiful tropical islands . The sun was shining we were getting very excited. We found Cocohut tours and travel agency and sorted out ghe extra baeds and boat tickets. We had to wait until 10am to catch a boat so we went yo the bjetty to find a cafe. It was very hectic with boats and people comjng and going. We had a little breakfast and then had a look around the souvenir shops. We bouggt a ball and some key rings and then went back to wait. There was another cafe next door to the tour agaent and dominic and marcus wanted a Milo Godzilla, so we ordered it and then we suddenly had to go and luckily could cancel.
There wax about 9 of us in the speedboat and it was quite an exhilerating ride to these beautiful islands. As we pulled up to the beachit was white sand and palm trees. Fabaroomi.
Luckoly we could check in straight away. The chalet was om but it was tucked in near the back and by the generator. glad we ard only in tnis rokm for 2 nights.
We chucked our things in our room and went for a well deserved swim. The water was so warm and clear. The rest of thd day we snorkelled and swam and read our books. there was some quite good snorlellingjust out from the beach. We went for a squid BBQ in theevening. There was a big thunderstorm in the early evening,
Day 2
hot doughnutsfor breakfast. Yummy
We decided thwt we would stay longer on the islands here rather tban go island hopping but we neede to find some more accommodation after Bayu dive lodge. We asked at cocohut if they had a seaview lodge and they had one so we said we would let her know. But by the time we had looked at a couple others which were full it had gone, so feeling a bit anxious we walked further up to another beach and they were all full until we got to coral view which ahd a family seafront chalet, which was a bit expensive but we decided it was worth it
We wlaked on to PIR beach, which was a beautiful sandy beach with no coral and then dominic panicked he had left his camera on the beach at Cocohut. So he ran back and we had an anxious 1/2 hour wait to see if he found it. Luckily he had actually put it in the room!
We then did some great snorkeling outside Coral View where we are going to stay later.
Swimming, snorkeling eating and drinking for the rest of the day.
Day 3
We packed up after breakfast, having taken some bread to feed the fishes with later. We took a taxi boat over to tne southern beach of Teluk dalen to stay at Bayu dive lodge. It wss a very different vibe over here, bea h not so nice but quite laid back. We couldnt actualy check in u til 2pm so we went off to shark point to snorkel. It was great loads of fish and we had great fun feeding them u der water. They were almost eating out of my hand. We then went in sear h of sharks. I saw some baby ones and finlay saw a 4 footer. The cral and fish were fab. We had some lunch in a nice cafe with our feet in the sands and then went back to find our room was ready we had 2 rooms here. Ours was a gorgeos room right on the sea front with a lovely balcony heaven!
The boys room was quite nice but back behind. But we could all sit on our balcony sk it didnt matter.
Didnt do much forvthe rest of the day. sat at jims bar and had a couple of beers.
We were on half board here and they said we could have whatever we wnted off the menu. Well we decided on shakes, fries and double beefburgers!! marcus a pizza. When our burgers eventually came they were disgusting like liver or something. I feel sick thinking about it!
Played canasta whilst waiting for dinner to come .
Day 4
Had a great waffle for breakfast and the set off on our round the idland snorkeling trip at 10 am. The english ladt, Pru and her 2 children (in the nextdoor chalet) were also on the trip and a spanish couple. We went to 4 different points and we saw a turtle, big sharks puffer fish, cuttlefish along with all the usual stuff it was great
We got back about 2pm and had some lunch in the place next door. We had a walk down the beach in the afternoon and played with the ball on the beach.
None of us went for beefburgers in the evening. I had pizza but only managed 2 slices.
Day 5
Sad to leave bay lodge but had to so checked out ay 11.30. Dominic and i decided to hike across the island to coral view. Finlay and mar us took tbe boat taxi. Dominic carried his pack but i let the others take mine. It tokm about 1/2an hour and was quite hot. We saw quite a few lizards and a lima monkey.
We got to coral view at the same time and our room was ready. Right on the seafront again and with some lovely comfy chairs. We have missed comfy chairs!the rest of the day wss snorkeling, eating, drinking and reading books along with woobabab in the water.
We ate at Mamas as it was quite good value and service was pretty quick for a change.
Day 6
After breakfast at mama's we hadorganised another snorkeling trip to Rawa island and 3 other points.
Was a great 3 to 4 hours except one snorkelling point wherd there were little jellyfish everywhere. We didnt stay there long. Dominc got a couple of stings.
Had lucnch when we got back and then a siesta in the beds outside our chalet before going off to the pir beach to play piggy in the middle in the water. We then swam out to the jetty and dived off that. Great fun. Dominic and finlag went back and marcus and i stayed in the bea h until about 7pm just enjoying the sand, sea ans warmth.
Finlah hac bought a few beers so we enjoyed those after showeri g and before going out to dinner. So far there had been wall to wall sunshine today.
We went back to mamas and found a nice table in the sand, but the guy said to go indide as it would rain in 15 mins. We should have listened as it did! And we had to rushninside with our foid. Finlay and i chose deepfried squid. We picked our squids out. It was delicious. By 9.30 we were knackered. And trtotted ofv back to our rooms.
Day 7
Woke up as usual much earlier than anyone else, but i love the early peaceful mornings. And sat and read my book as sun was rising. Marcus got up and went to check internet and dominic went for a swim.
Once finlay was up we headed for mamas again for breakfast. I had a banana chocolate pancake which was ok. I also bought some manostei s and rambutan. We booked our boat for the next day and then it was time for snorkelling. Dominic stayed at the chalet to read. We just snorkeled off the reef outside our chalet.
It was yet again fantastic. Everyti e you go out you see different things. We saw loads of sharks today. Mostly little ones but teenager size and also i sw 1 big one. Finlay said he saw 2 really big ones swim right under me!
I also saw a bluespotted stingray today.
The snorkelling has been great all the time. I have loved seei g all the different types of clownfish, huge parrot fish, all forms of coral, clams and a few urchind and then so many different types of tropical fish, sometimes by bei g surrounded by them. I wish we had had an underwater camera.
We went off to the swimming beach for a bit after and played in the sea but the sun was very strong so thought we better go in to the shade.
We had a lateish lunch at the chinese and finlzy and i had a beer. A usual rest after lunch until about 4pm and then dominic and fi went snorkelling and marcus and i went to the beach, swam to the jetty and played off yhat for awhile, jumping in and trying to catch the ball(failing most of the time)
After relaxing on the beach the others tufned up and we went for a game of piggy in the middle in the water). The others went back but i stayed to read at the beach
