21st July KL to Penang
Woke up and packed and went down for our breakfast at the hotel,/some fruit and toast and then we caught a taxi to the Subang airport for 60 ringgit from out in the street as opposed to the GH ordering it for us at a cost of 150 MYR. Easy ride aand got o the airport shortly before 10am. Very small airport and quite quaint. Even had a Macdonalds so i gave in and had a sausage mcmuffin for the foirst time in yeaars, not particuarly nice. Our flight with firefly left on time at 12 pm. It was a twin propellor plane and was only 1/3 full. How they can afford to run it as we only paid 10 US dollars each. It was fine but I found it quite scary as it was smal it was quite bumpy but it pssed quickly and at 1pm we were in Penang, The pearl of the Orient. We cught a txi to our hotel, Moon Tree forty seven. Which was very quirky, a bit too quirky for my likng. We had a bathroom and small room and then not much more than a fire ladder up to our beds. We popped out had some indian food in at the Dansh,/everything seemed shut. Back to our hotel and we had a bit of chilling time nd when we emerged the streets were alive with cars, bikes, trishaws people bars, food carts and shops.
Kent, the very help GH owner gave us a map of all the things to do and all the food specialities and where to have them. He even gave us a telephone to use. We went in search of this night food mrket and found it after about 20 mins watching our backs all the time we didnt get knocked over by a scooter or car. . We had delicious satay and a local dishcalled char kway teow, a flat noodle dish with egg, shrimp, local sausage. It was really good and set us back less than £1 a dish. I like that..
After the usual cards and drinks it was past midnight when we went to bed
