20th July Malacca to Kuala Lumpar

Set the alarm for 8 so we had enough time to pack all the stuff that had exploded out of our backpacks and walked across the road after having a coffee at the GH to Ann Leung refreshments for the famous KAYA TOAST, basically white toast with honey! I also had 2 eggs wchich thwy referred to as soft boiled and said water so they were brought to the water sitting in some hot water and definitely never actually cooked yummy! Not!.

Our taxi came about 10.15 to take us back to Melaka bus station and the bus left at 11am, Delima express, definitely not as nice as KKKL but was ok and we got back to KL about 1pm and found our GH The Rain Forest B AND B in Bukit Butang area. It was sort of 2 rooms but only had a bed big enough for Dominic.in one of the rooms

We set out to find some lunch. There was an Indian cafe across the road, I had an onion roti and veg curry which cost 4 MYR(80p). We decided to do some sightseeing. We walked to the Petronas towers which were the tallest inthe world until the twintowers were built. KLis quite compact but hard to map read. It was so hot and we dived into ac buildings and7 -11 shops whenever we could to cool l of. The towers were amazing and you can see them in every skyline view.

After we went to Merdeka Square where all the old colonial buildings are but now being engulfed by modern sky rises. then We wandered towards the stadium where the swimming pool was, but we had to get the boys some lycra costumes as baggy shorts are not allowed. We found some rather tasty numbers and then off to the pool It was a big pool, with a nice view over KL. We were the only non-locals. Dominic came out of the changing rooms in his new swimming trunks with his pants underneath as his new trunks had a hole in the front just at the seam!!!. We had a good lark about the pool, being stared at a fair amount and got wontoned and bargeed several times

It was now about 6:30 so we struggled with the map to get our sense of direction but got back to our guest house via Jin Alor, a whole street which was turned into a big outdoor dining area, it was buzzng and packed but we found a table and tucked into some yummy squid, I also tried saome la la's which are like clams fried in squid garlic and ginger. All washed down with a couple of cheeky beers. You dont stay in those places after your meals as they want your table for the next customer so went after to a cafe and sat on a street table having ice coffee and playing cards. When I wanted to go to the loo I was given a key to a padlock for a door a couple of buildings away lucky I didn't have to go again! Got back to hotel about 11.30.
