Rangtangsplus1 in Malaysia and Sumatra 2015

Bukit lawang day 1

Had a leisurely get up and had a nice breakfast looking over the river.we then decided to go for a walk and get the feel of the place. I really can't believe I am in the iconic jungle of sumatra. There is like an orchestra of noises and the trees are so tall. We walked up the river along a trail checking out the tubing options and the came back to get our swim gear and for the boys to change rooms. The junia guys were laughing at us and said they had our fruit in the kitchen. i had left it on our balcony as i didn't want to encourage ants in to our room. Well they had caught the monkeys trying to pinch it. So we took it back and put it in our room and it wasnt long when we were sitting on our balcony they returned. i fed one a rambutan which was probably a silly thing to do as they wouldnt leave us alone. They kept looking a the fruit in the room and then the alpha male one started getting agressive to finlay so we went back inside our room and they wouldnt let finlay out. It was really quite funny. I made a run for it and went to tell the GH owners and they came and shooed them off.

After all that hilarity we got on our costumes and walked up the river to hire these huge inner tubes which had rope tied around them so they looked ribbed and then there was rope crisscrossed over the hole in the middle to form like a seat. We walked them about 20 mins up the river, they were quite light, and then we floated back down the river over the rapids. It was brilliant fun. We did it one more time and the came back and had some lunch.

After lunch the boys did it twice again while finlayand i watched in comfort from a cafe. Dominic had a scary moment when he came face to face with a 3 foot monitor lizard in the water.

For the rest of the day we relaxed and read our books.
