HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM JAPAN!
Our first time experiencing Halloween here! We were not disappointed. One fun things we did together was paint pumpkins. We were not able to find large-sized pumpkins, but we found tiny pumpkins at Ikea. We had a lot of fun painting them even though we had no table, chairs, or even a bed in our apartment at the time.
The weekend before Halloween we went out in Sakae, the downtown area of Nagoya that has a lot going on. There were tons of expats and Japanese people on the streets in full costume. Miklos and I went out with several people from his work.
The costumes that we wore were special to us. Unfortunately, you can't see them too well in picture (in the picture of us with a small group of people). What's special about them, though, is that they're

What's special about them, though, is that they're
handmade, although you'd never know. Last year Tori was taking sewing lessons and her sewing teacher worked with Tori to make Miklos's costume. Unfortunately, they ran out of time and Tori wasn't able to work on her own costume, but her sewing teacher is super kind and she made the costume for Tori. The downside is that the costumes are candy corn, and only Americans seem to actually know what that is!
It was really cool seeing how many stores, and even our apartment complex (pictured) were decorated for Halloween. So many bakeries and cafes also had delicious Halloween treats (check out two delicious treats that we bought).
