Miklos & Tori's Japan Adventures

Every year in May and June you can witness about 400,000 Shibazakura moss (mostly in various shades of pink) blooming on the top of Mount Chausu’s Plateau (Shibazakura-no-oka Hill) in Aichi. You can actually drive most of the way to the top. Once you get to the highest point by car, you can take a ski lift to continue the rest of the way to the top, an elevation of about 1,358 meters, or you can simply walk to the rest of the way. In total there are six different varieties of the moss which covers approximately 22,000 square meters. Needless to say, the views are breathtaking!

We went last year with our friends Greco and Ben, and we came back again this year with our friends Anna and Matthew. We did not have the best weather this year, as it was misty and a bit foggy. Miklos also ran into a bit of bad luck when both soles of his hiking boots fell off! However, we had a nice time, and had some good laughs!
