Miklos & Tori's Japan Adventures

Ok, so one of the best things about living where we do is that we are a 2 minute walk to Tsurumai Park. Like many of your large Asian cities, Nagoya is a concrete jungle. So, it is so nice to have beautiful outdoor space so close to us. We believe, perhaps incorrectly, that this is the 2nd largest park in Nagoya. Tori, in particular, has really been able to enjoy the park because she has been looping and running through the park during the day.

We've also heard that Tsurumai Park is gorgeous during cherry blossom season. It's also very popular during this time. Luckily, we'll be able to easily access the park anytime. So, hopefully we can see it when it's a bit less crowded. Fun fact: The main fountain on a map looks like a Pokeball, so the park is somewhat of a pilgrimage site for Pokemon Go players.

We'll share another post with some beautiful pictures of the park, but for now we wanted to share something that Tori, in particular, was super excited about! This was our first weekend in the apartment, and the park hosted a Vegan festival. Yes, you read that right--- a VEGAN festival-- in Asia of all places! It's incredible, Asia is very slowly but surely getting on board with vegan and vegetarianism.

Tori was extremely excited because:
(1) She got to explore the beautiful park by her home
(2) The weather was absolutely perfect
(3) She could eat EVERYTHING at this festival

Additionally, we now know tons of bakeries and restaurants around the city that make and sell vegan/vegetarian goods.

We'll follow up this post with our experience here so far with Tori's experience being vegetarian (and Miklos who happily accommodates Tori and also embraces eating vegetarian food).
