Shirl surprised everyone with an early Christmas present! The present was an event-- a cultural night here in Nagoya. None of us were entirely sure what to expect, but this event WAS AWESOME!
The event was hosted in the oldest restaurant in Nagoya, Kawabun. It's 400 years old. As you can imagine, the ambiance itself was amazing. Upon arrival we were seated and offered sake or tea and were given a dessert.
The events began with a traditional performance from a geisha. This included traditional instruments that were played along with songs while the geisha danced.
After the performance, we were taken into another room where we were taught traditional parlor games. After we were taught how to play, we were able to compete against the geisha and also play amongst ourself. This was so cool probably because it was so interactive!
As this was a limited time event, we were so happy to have been able to have this experience. We were even happier to be able to share this moment with our families. All of us really enjoyed it!
