On November 1st we ventured over to Kobe, Japan. Tuesday was a national holiday so both of us had off from work. Miklos took off from work on Monday, while Tori taught remotely from the hotel room on Monday.
We both really loved Kobe! The port area itself is a very cool area that has really been built up. It houses a giant ferris wheel, picnic areas, and a lot of cool eateries. The "be Kobe" picture was taken at the port. You can also see some eerie remnants from the 1996 earthquake which killed over 6,000 people and devastated the city.

Kobe, Japan
On November 1st we ventured over to Kobe, Japan. Tuesday was a national holiday so both of us had off from work. Miklos took off from work on Monday, while Tori taught remotely from the hotel room on Monday.
We both really loved Kobe! The port area itself is a very cool area that has really been built up. It houses a giant ferris wheel, picnic areas, and a lot of cool eateries. The "be Kobe" picture was taken at the port. You can also see some eerie remnants from the 1996 earthquake which killed over 6,000 people and devastated the city.
Along the port, a strip of land was left intact from the earthquake which includes light posts that are bent over.
Chinatown is another incredible area of Kobe! It is a rather large area, and it is beautiful! Some of the stores can be a bit repetitive, and some of the staff are a bit pesty trying to get your attention outside of their shops, but it was still a very cool experience to take a stroll through the area.
Kobe is also so incredibly trendy! Check out some of our photos from some of the adorable cafes we found! This includes a Disney-themed cafe, as well as a coffee house with a beautiful wooden interior and enormous, fun desserts. Aside from the cafes, the whole city is very trendy, and as a result, there are so many wonderful eateries!
Kobe also houses 3 ropeways. We took the Mount Maya ropeway which took us to Mt. Maya Kikuseidai. This gave us a beautiful view of the city, and it is voted one of the top 3 night views in all of Japan.
We also took the Kobe Nunobiki ropeway which conveniently was located right next to our hotel. This took us up to a beautiful herb garden. From the top, we walked down the mountain and stopped at
the beautiful Nunobiki waterfall.
Another place that we checked out was the Kobe Animal Kingdom. Japan does their animal kingdoms so well! They have so many unique animals, and so many interactive things for guests to do and see!
Kobe is really cool because it is such a huge metropolitan city, but there are mountains that surround the city and are easily accessible. This creates such great opportunities to get outdoors and do some hiking.
Check out the glowing path in the photo below! Limited photo layouts prevented us from grouping it with the other photos. At the top of the Mount Maya ropeway, they have an adorable black light path.
