John and Selina's Drive Across Country

Surprise! It is me, Amanda, in San Francisco with the family.
I flew out here to spend this part of the trip with John and Selina, and I surprised Matthew, Janice and Peter today. It is wonderful to see everyone.
John, Selina and I drove to Ocean Beach to see the Pacific Ocean. We saw the ruins of the Sutro Baths, part of an entertainment destination for earlier generations. There were several restaurants along the cliff and we had a delicious lunch (Sourdough bread for three meals a day? Yes, please.).
Matt joined us for a beautiful walk along the cliffs and we saw the approach to the Golden Gate. It seemed like every 50 feet or so there was a sign about some horrible disaster (shipwreck, landslide, exploding ship, fire, etc.).
We met up with Janice and Peter for chocolate sundaes, banana splits and brownies at Ghirardelli Square, on the site of an old chocolate factory.
Then we checked out a sourdough bakery (sensing a theme here?). Thank goodness the "Mother Dough" starter was rescued by the Boudin family matriarch during the earthquake and fire of 1906.
