We basically drove down the state of Utah today. Salt Lake City is in the north, and Kanab is just north of the Arizona border. It took us about six hours.
As we drove south, it was sometimes hard to distinguish between mountains and rock formations. Either way, they were awesome. The landscape reminded me of a book from my childhood, "The Great Brain," which is about a Catholic family living amongst the Mormons in Utah in the 19th century. The kid appeal is that the boys in the family get into a lot of hijinks.
We stopped about 70 miles away from Kanab to look at Bryce Canyon. It was pretty spectacular. It makes me wonder what the Grand Canyon will be like. I'll find out tomorrow ...
