Today we head up to Banff. On our way out the kids all got their Glacier Junior Ranger badges (even Luke this time!) and Audrey had to have one more conversation with the howling wolves at the visitor center. Praise the Lord for easy passage and crossing into Canada! This town is quite different than anything we have seen. It is very trendy and touristy, the prices of everything reflect this fact. It is a beautiful place. All the other parks you drive to the mountains or travel to see some geological feature. Here you are constantly right in the middle of huge peaks and jagged faces of mountains. Attitudes are much more positive and pleasant now that we have made the decision to end the camping portion of the trip and turn it into a hotel-based vacation. This frees Alan up from endless packing and rearranging of bags as well as tedious meal preparations. The tent trailer is parked in a cold camping spot next to an open field probably full of roaming grizzlies. We are safe and warm inside a downtown hotel room. Yes, Alan is happy. Our first day here only allowed time to walk through downtown and get some dinner – Mexican in Canada! The only mean twist to the whole change of events was the hotel room not having air conditioning and it being rather warm. Unfortunately, open windows invited in loud noises from an alley below so we endured with a fan. BTW, our Honda GPS is totally useless here. It apparently thinks that we would never drive the car to Canada!
