Danube and Rhine Rivers Cruise

Two excursions were on tap for today: a panoramic bus tour of Vienna and a visit to the Schönbrunn Palace. First, the bus tour around Vienna was a nice drive with a guide describing key buildings and a bit of history attached to them. The guide was very knowledgeable. The guide then took us on a walking tour of the city ending at St. Stephan's Cathedral. Maureen and I took a quick tour of the church then headed for somewhere to lunch as we only had 1 hour before heading back to the bus. We found an outdoor café where we had cappuccino coffee and strudel with a vanilla sauce. Afterwards we visited a souvenir shop where Maureen bought a carry bag with a Vienna picture on it. Soon after the guide took us back to our bus where we were driven back to our boat for lunch.
The afternoon was spent on another tour, the Schönbrunn Palace. The guide took us on an internal tour of the place. We were not allowed to use our cameras inside. Our guide again marvelled us with his knowledge of the interior with many paintings and tapestries. He was super. Not being able to photograph the interior Maureen and I bought a book on Vienna with some info on the palace. After dinner we listened to a lecturer in the boat lounge telling us all about the history of Austria.
