Danube and Rhine Rivers Cruise

It was a rainy morning today, but as we cruised the Danube towards Regensburg the weather seemed to improve, just remained cloudy. After docking at Regensburg we departed by bus around 9:45 AM for the city of Munich. The drive there was about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Again, scenery was great. What we saw along the way was a lot of hops. And there was a lot, fields and fields of it. Just amazing to see. This plant, which can grow 20 to 30 feet is used in the production of beer. They drink a lot of beer here!
Our bus driver and guide drove around the city for about 1 hour pointing out some significant monuments and statues, especially Max and Ludwig, who were kings of the past. The guide also showed us sites where Hitler made many of his infamous speeches. After the bus tour our guide took us around the old part of town on a walking tour. We basically finished our walk at the old Rathaus (city hall). From here just before noon we watched the glockenspiel for about 10 minutes. Kind of interesting. After this show we had lunch at the Ratskeller Restaurant. Good meal. This is a beautiful restaurant located below the old city hall (Rathaus). We them walked around for a while but it began to rain. We sought shelter by having a drink at a café, then headed back towards our bus rendezvous for the trip back to the boat. It was a little drizzly. Traffic on the autobahn was bad for a few places. Got back around 6 PM. It was a long day.
