Aussie Travel 2023 - Part 2

After Longreach we travelled to Winton, which we had heard so much about.

Like so many of these outback towns, Winton exists of one about 200m long main road with shops on each side of the road and more ‘hotels’ (pubs) than any of the other shops. After hearing so much about Winton I was surprised how small Winton is.

The first thing we usually do is visit the I-Site to find out what’s happening in town and to make a plan about what we are going to do.

Winton is known for its Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum which is home to the largest collection of Australian dinosaur fossils in the world. The Museum is split between three facilities, the Fossil Preparation Laboratory, Collection Room and Dinosaur Canyon. We had planned to visit this museum but inspite of it being run by a non-for-profit organisation, the cost of the visit would have blown our budget.

So we decided to take a drive through the Bladensburg National Park all the way to the Scrummy Lookout.
