We traveled to Emerald and found a nice camp on a large private property. The lady owner greeted us sitting on her golf cart and asked me to jump in. Her, myself, and her dachshund who was squashed between us took off while Bulla followed us to the spot where we were supposed to park. There were at least 10-15 more caravans on her property. but everybody had plenty of space and it didn’t feel cramped at all.

Next to us was a couple who immigrated from France to Australia in 1982, one year before I immigrated to New Zealand. We hit it right off and while Bulla couldn’t stop chatting to Alain, I couldn’t stop chatting to Francoise. We spent a couple of evenings together around the fire, eating pizza, dinking wine and beer and having lots of fun. They live close (200km!) from Melbourne, so there is a very good chance that we see each other again in the future. We definitely want to try to meet on the road again further north possibly next month.
